Making a referral

Stoke-on-Trent City Council now use an integrated partnership approach to assessing referrals. The Integrated Front Door works with referrers to understand decision making thresholds and the support a child and family may need. We went to make sure children and young people get the right help at the right time.

If you are worried about a child or young person, you can refer to the Integrated Front Door through an online portal.

The phoneline remains open for URGENT REFERRALS – Tel: 01782 235100 (Monday - Thursday 8.30am – 5pm, Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm)

For ALL referrals outside of office hours, at weekends or a bank holiday, please contact the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) – Tel: 01782 234234

If a child is at immediate and serious risk, call 999

You will need the following information:

  • All the details known to you/your agency about the child;
  • The family composition including siblings, and where possible extended family members and anyone important in the child’s life;
  • The nature of the concern and how immediate it is;
  • Details of any work/support that you have provided to the child or family to date.
  • Details of where the child is.
  • Whether you have informed parents/carers of your concern. Please be aware that consent from the parent/carer will be required to make a referral unless this places the child at any further risk.
